ASIAN AMERICAN RESOURCE CENTER EXPO
(Austin, TX) - The Network of Asian American Organizations is holding an expo at the 3M Innovation Center (6801 River Place Blvd., Austin, TX 78726), Friday, October 29, from 11 am to 2 pm. This event allows the public the chance to comment and make suggestions about the design of the upcoming Asian American Resources Center (AARC), Phase I. As the design process is about to begin, we would like to share the vision and help disseminate information about the AARC.
This event will be hosted by City of Austin Mayor Pro Tem Mike Martinez. It is an exhibition showcasing the Architects, Engineers, Project Manager, Contractor and the Community who have helped create a vision for AARC. Participants will explore various points of view of the AARC concept, and view the long-term plan for Phases II and III as well preview the final build out.
The AARC has been made possible through a public-private partnership with the City of Austin, the Federal Government and the community. When completed and opened in 2012, the Asian American Resource Center (AARC) is certain to be an architectural gem and a global destination. The Entry Plaza, Park, Gardens, Cultural Courtyard, Amphitheatre, spacious Performance Hall, Main Street, and Economic Center will be beautiful and popular meeting spots. More importantly, it will bring top-notch Asia-centric programs, educational initiatives, lectures, discussions, cultural festivals, art exhibitions and contemplative endeavors to Austin.
The AARC’s mission of preparing Austin as a gateway for Americans and Asians to embrace a shared future will thrive in an atmosphere of Texas ingenuity and hospitality. Visit the Asian American Resource Center website at www.aarcaustin.org.
